TV News: Interview Set Up

TV News: Interview Set Up

This is just a short blog post where I throw around a few ideas for camera and lighting set up in interviews.

Depending on how much space we have available and weather we are inside, outside or by a window will depend on what we can do. SO I have prepared three diagrams detailing our set up options, from basic to ideal.

This is the most basic set up, it can be used if we are in a rush or have limited space. It works for both interior and exterior locations that are well lit.

This is a better option, although put together with interior locations in mind there is no reason why it couldn't be adapted for outside use. I am a firm believer in a two camera set up wherever possible as it can be great for coverage as well as a backup. Two lights are just enough to help a subject stand out.

This is the third and most advanced set up I have planned. It allows for great depth and a balanced frame. It is ideal for interior locations especially with the use of the greenscreen (which could be swapped out for a regular background). I hope this one will come in particularly useful during the studio segments of our piece and the other 2 are good for adaptability.

We can decide once on location which would be best, but if we have a basic plan already set up then it will help save time.
