TV News: Route Planning

TV News: Route Planning

Another thing we achieved through today's Skype call was a basic route and location plan for some of our shoot days.

Bellow is a basic map of the locations we want to visit in London, as well as a planned route of how we will get from location to location.

Although we don't have the time to RECCY these locations, but we examined each via google street view, to see where we could potentially and safely place cameras.

Most of the London locations we wish to visit are in the catchment area of the above route. This shoot will mainly be used for "B-Roll" or "OOV" footage that we can use at the introduction of our piece and for our channel trailer. It may also come in handy as establishing shots if we don't have enough other footage (which we should have).

The above image shows the planned route we will take to interview AJ one of our contributors. We also made plans of where we can stop on the way to pick up some group members. Unfortunately this location has tight security and we only have been granted access on the day of our shoot, meaning we wont be able to REECY it until the day. But I will likely default to one of the setups that I prepared in a separate blog post.

Smart dealership in Maidstone however was one location we did manage to REECY. Its was very useful to visit the place in person. As in some areas we have limited space, so we could carefully plan where we could place cameras. One advantage of this location is that it has plenty of natural light.

Our other location is a lecture room in Maidstone studios that we have been in many times and I have clear experience of the best camera/lighting setup. This room will act as a studio space. We will have to plan lighting carefully though, since we will be using a green screen.
