Directions: Casting, Location And Set Design
For my Directions Unit Production I have a clear idea of the location space I need for my scenes.
For the first part of my script I will naeed an office space, this would preferably have a window so that I could emphasise the common theme of hight that is present inthe film. I would also lay a few key props such as papers photos etc. Also a steps or chairs/desks would be great for symbolising characters power and working on multiple levles.
I would also need the use of an art gallary for the next scene. I would preferably like one with connecting rooms so that i could have characters positioned carefully so that one could be hidden in shadow to emphasise the voyerism present within the film.
In relation to set design I would need at least one large portrait so that my actrss could model herself after it in order to create forshadowing of future plot points. I wiould also ideally like a long corydoor with multile paintings on both walls, or a table to sit at in order for my character to be followed subtly through a series of long/mid shots.
Bellow are a few reference images.
Adjacent is one possible location that features both a gallery and an office space. It is Sun Pier house in Chatham which \i have contacted, and have recieved confirmation. i went to scout the location recwntly yo see how I can make most use of the space. I have also contacted several other similar locations across the area as a back up.
Casting
For my cast I will need three characters. Jhon (the main protagonist) and Gavin (the old friend that hires Jhon). Both are white male and middle aged in their late 20's/30's. Often refered to as male pale and stale. I will also need a woman of a similar age (perhaps slightly younger since Hitchcock often used young beautiful women in his films) to play the part of Judy/Madaline. I have sent out multiple adds on casting call pro and contacted local actors directly but have yet to receive confirmation. Bellow are a few reference images of the characters I am to cast.
Bellow is a screenshot of when my add was set up and who has applied for my film.
hi george - i have seen your add on Castingcall pro - and unfortunately there are lots of spelling and grammar mistakes in the add, and the information isn't clear, so this would put people off from responding. You need to be accurate in how you are writing the ads. I can help if you need assistance.
